A collection of historic barn conversions forming five new homes set around a Victorian farmyard

Set in idyllic countryside, this collection of historic barn conversions in Cornwall has created high quality and contemporary homes that still retain their inherent character and charm.

Our approach to the dilapidated barns was to enhance and highlight the existing details whilst creating timeless designs that included modern functionality.  Integral to the success of the conversions was reinstating a lost section of the building and courtyard.  This was a key element in restoring the integrity of the original 1870 design and replaced lost connections.

Arranged around the former farmyard layout, the new homes are respectful of the original country aesthetic, and this is further reflected in the use of natural materials for both the repair of the historic barns and construction of new additions.

The agricultural vernacular is further maintained using natural materials for both the repair of existing stone walls and slate roofs and the construction of new additions.

Secure storage facilities housed in a former piggery, coupled with ample parking spaces provide valuable amenities for residents.  Generous shared gardens and private gardens further integrate the new community into the rural landscape.

Equally important is the introduction of solar panels and other energy saving measures, which have helped to ensure a significant improvement to the sustainability and thermal efficiency of the new homes.
