A new planning consent for these historic Grade II Listed barns has transformed an outdated, legacy scheme into stunning family home

An out of date planning consent for a Listed barn conversion near Stratford Upon Avon was reappraised and reorganised to reflect conservation methods in line with current guidelines and make improvements to the quality and outcome of the scheme.

Following Pre-Planning advice from Stratford-on-Avon, a new consent was obtained that responded to the character of the barns, showcasing their heritage, whilst creating a new home fit for modern living.

This distinctive range of barns has been adapted and altered over the years and the historic timber frames include brick panels in addition to the original wattle and daub.  The majority of the brick panels are retained to maintain a historical record of the changes whilst others will be replaced by windows.

Contemporary glazed extensions connect the disparate elements of the barns, providing essential circulation space whilst ensuring the original arrangement of the barns is presented unimpeded.  Practical solutions for spaces with formerly specific uses increases the serviceability of the existing structures without losing their identity.
