Our approach to remodelling and extending this family home was to make it fit for modern living and stand the property, and the family, in good stead for years to come.

One of the first steps was to reorganise the flow of rooms to create a larger footprint and more considered use of space.  The heart of the house has been designed around open plan kitchen and living areas, creating useable, sociable spaces.  In addition, a new engineered wood staircase leads to a guest WC and connects the reception spaces with bedrooms above.

A further requirement from our client was for somewhere to house all the clothing and paraphernalia that comes with a family.  Our response was to design an infill extension that created a utility area and boot room, linking to an outside space with a canopy cover.

Bespoke replacement wooden windows were installed throughout and guttering replaced.  Finally, the external walls were given a coat of white paint.

The overall result is a warm, characterful and practical house that meets the needs of our clients’ busy family lifestyle.
