The Bazeley Partnership won Planning Approval at Appeal for a new building housing residential apartments with sea views, comprising nine, two and three bedroom apartments and a penthouse in a dramatic coastal location affording uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean at Widemouth Bay.

The final scheme was presented to the Cornwall Design Review Panel, whose input helped to deliver the Planning Inspectorate Conclusion “I have found that the proposals represent good design, whilst respecting the character and appearance of the immediate vicinity and wider landscape and seascape setting.”

Replacing a domestic bungalow built in the 1960s, the ambition was to deliver outstanding contemporary, sustainable development, creating a small community within the wider coastal context. Serendah is sympathetic in scale and form and sits comfortably within its surroundings. More traditional neighbours are acknowledged in the symmetry of design and use of natural materials, including stone and render.

Features such as rainwater harvesting and solar panels have been incorporated into the scheme, along with shared amenity garden space, private parking and secure storage facilities for larger items such as bicycles and surfboards.
