Practice

The Bazeley Partnership is a Royal Institute of British Architects Chartered Practice that has been delivering award-winning architecture from studios in Devon and Cornwall for over 110 years.

We are a team of architects, architectural technologists and technicians who combine a wealth of experience, knowledge and skill to find innovative, creative and sustainable solutions to deliver outstanding results.

Our guiding principle is contextual design and intrinsic to this is understanding the importance of location – each project is considered carefully in its immediate and wider landscape.

Culture

We promote the development of healthy and low-energy buildings which minimise their impact on the environment and embody the principles of Passivhaus, Building Biology and Permaculture.

Regular design review workshops in our main studio in the Cornish coastal resort of Bude ensure projects are considered and appraised thoroughly and comprehensively. Every project receives the same rigorous creative exploration of spatial relationships and user experiences, with the aim of adding value to our client’s brief.

Heritage

The original practice was founded in 1911 in Falmouth by C.R. Corfield, and a merger with Bazeley, Miller-Williams in 1980 created Bazeley, Miller-Williams & Corfield.

Geoffrey Bazeley was a prominent Modernist Architect born in Penzance in 1906. An early commission was Tregannick House, near Sancreed, built in 1935. This exemplary building has been described as ”one of the best Modern Movement houses in the West of England.”

In 2001 a merger with the celebrated Eden Project architects, The Jonathan Ball Practice, led to the formation of The Bazeley Partnership.

In 2012 The Bazeley Partnership became a Limited Company, and since then has continued to build on the foundations of the practice’s distinguished heritage.
