The Bude Light
One of a number of projects to be constructed as part of Millennium celebrations, The Bude Light was a landscaping project in which The Bazeley Partnership collaborated with local artist Carol Vincent to produce a scheme that commemorated the achievements of Sir Goldsworthy Gurney.
Sited in front of Bude Castle – which was built in the 19th century – on a then revolutionary concrete raft foundation, the project consists of a slender, conical sculpture of coloured concrete with a light positioned at the apex.
The project represented a significant improvement to the otherwise neglected area in front of the Castle and is regularly used as a focus and venue for a variety of open air events.
