One of our most challenging sites for a new dwelling is nearing completion in St Mawes on the Roseland. Riviera Gardens is a highly bespoke and unique replacement dwelling located at the western end of Riviera Lane, with unmatched views over the estuary and the Carrick Roads. The project is the result of an especially close collaboration between architect and client, who is a former director of Arup, the world’s leading civil and structural engineering consultancy.
We have been blessed with a strong and capable delivery team for the project including Edwin Bryant Associates Quantity Surveyors, GPJ Consulting Services Engineers, MBA Consulting Structural Engineers and Classic Builders as the main contractor.
Project architect Mark Roberts comments ‘The success of this project and the manner in which it sits so beautifully into its backdrop are an outcome that the team and our client can be proud of. The site is uniquely challenging, with very restricted access, a dramatic level change from the access point to the site to its top floor, complex geology and a restrictive planning policy context. We and our client worked closely with guidance from the Cornwall Design Review Panel in the early stages to achieve a truly remarkable design that is perfectly suited to its location, enhancing its setting.’
