Langfield Gardens, Bude
A unique development of eight high quality, 4 bedroom dwellings in a desirable location in the Cornish coastal town of Bude. Langfield Gardens is located on the site of the Langfield Manor, and offers contemporary family homes within a short walking distance of Bude’s town centre, schools, amenities and award winning beaches.
The development has been designed around a core architectural language present throughout each of the dwellings, with two varying house types and a range of subtle touches incorporated into each individual property through bespoke kitchens and bathrooms and a choice of internal floor finishes, wood burning stoves and external cladding colours. This variation between dwellings delivers a diverse and interesting development and has encouraged residents to put their own mark on their homes from an early stage.
A simple palette of materials was chosen throughout the development, focussing on dark Roman-style horizontal brickwork at ground floor level to add texture and contrast, and compliment the dark grey glazing and trims, with the clean lines and smooth texture of the white render at first floor level providing a contrast.
Internally, the dwellings comprise a large open-plan ground floor with kitchen, living and dining areas, opening out to private gardens to the rear. A feature staircase leads up to four generous double bedrooms with a family bathroom and private en-suites. Corner windows, glazed Juliet balconies and floor to ceiling windows ensure well-lit rooms, and the ‘pop-out’ first bathrooms provide privacy from neighbouring dwellings whilst adding further interest.
The dwellings have been well-insulated, and calculations to take into consideration the natural warmth and light of the sun will reduce heating demand and energy costs. Underfloor heating is included throughout to ensure user comfort, and all dwellings are fitted with solar thermal panels to provide free hot water all year-round.
