Helston Modern Languages Centre
The Helston Modern Languages Centre is a new modern languages building including: six classrooms, meeting rooms, a staff area and offices.
The building is located at a key nodal point within the school where the main existing routes meet. A curved plan with an innovative ribbed roof presents a softer form to those moving around and through the building.
The teaching spaces are grouped at either end of the building with meeting spaces at the heart, which have glazed internal and external walls, allowing views of the landscape to the west.
A continuous glazed rooflight delivers natural daylighting into the centre of the building and passive natural ventilation is provided to classrooms by rooftop wind catchers.
