Extension to St Tudy Community Village Shop, Bodmin

The procurement of a new replacement Village Shop and Post Office and more recently a Coffee Shop and Library/IT Hub are a wonderful example of the strength of a community coming together to find ways of replacing these vital rural community resources.  St. Tudy like so many other villages across the country was faced with loosing its local village shop and Post Office. Through determination and enormous hard work carried out by a Steering Group the community was able to raise sufficient funds which included Grant Aid from a number of sources, not least the Duchy of Cornwall, and was able to construct firstly a new Village Shop which also contained a Post Office Service and then more recently an extension to form a Coffee Shop and Community Resource Hub which includes a small library and IT provision.

The success of the community’s efforts was acknowledged and celebrated by the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall in July 2018.
