If you are looking for a professional, pro-active and dynamic firm to help create your dream home then The Bazeley Partnership is the definitely worthy of the job. Thanks guys for all you've done! : ) In 2010 My wife and I purchased a former riding stables business and small holding, which came with a 13th Century, Grade II* (2 star) listed medieval Tithe Barn. The barn was on the national register at risk and is one of the only surviving examples of a Medieval roof on a barn of this type in Cornwall- hence its star listed status. The previous owners and other prospective buyers had attempted to secure a planning consent on the barn, but failed. We were advised that planning was unlikely and we should avoid taking on the challenge by both our solicitor and other planning professionals. However, having met with Martin Back from the Bazeley Partnership we found great comfort in his knowledge and experience, and his approach to secure planning permission seemed logical. In 2011 we appointed The Bazeley Partnership and through their professional and methodical approach, excellent design and detailed application, we secured the support of English Heritage to save our special building. This was a very rare example of a Grade 2 Star listed building being granted residential planning status and thus enabled us to fulfil our dream of turning it into an amazing home. Throughout the sensitive conversion the Bazeley Partnership have played a crucial role in aiding and assisting with the discharge of various planning and listed buildings conditions and general design and technical advice. Since then we have also appointed Martin and his team to act for us on numerous applications, all of which have been handled in the same professional fashion with a successful outcome.
Rob you have done a fantastic job. And all credit to you for producing the most beautifully designed house that anyone could have ever wished for.
I was fortunate enough to have been recommended The Bazeley Partnership for our Regeneration Project in Carbis Bay, being a new multi-purpose entertainment, function and public activity venue on our privately owned beach. I must commend The Bazeley Partnership on the effective and successful design and their awareness of the natural constraints in such a sensitive area of outstanding beauty. This is a major development plan for our St Ives Bay and indeed for Cornwall and without their advice and assistance on the many designing and planning stages procurement of this project would not have been possible.
Martin Back of The Bazeley Partnership impressed us with his calm creative approach, and was keen to maximise views from the site by creating an open-plan living space on the first floor incorporating south-facing balconies. We would never have taken on a self build project by choice, but it’s actually been liberating to build something completely from scratch, and the end result is so much better than we could have achieved by simply adapting the old house.
It’s great to live in. It’s south and west facing, so the orientation is perfect for the living room during the day, and our windows face over the sea where the sun sets. It’s a brilliant seaside house.”
The scheme that the team at Bazeley has designed not only reflects our ambition to create homes which are distinctive, contemporary and serves 21st century living but is also testament that great quality design can prevail in the face of opposition. Our project in Royal Ascot, is set to raise the standard of residential design, which takes references from the best of the modernist 1930s era translated into an exciting visual language for modern living. The positive decision delivered by the Planning Inspectorate is a landmark one and we're really looking forward to working with Bazeley to deliver the project.
Never having hired an architect before, we had to trust to instinct rather than experience in appointing advisers for the construction. We interviewed several, and were attracted to Bazeley's highly-professional approach and absence of arrogance. The latter made for a positive working dialogue as they actively sought our design preferences and adopted a can-do approach throughout. The latter was particularly important in emboldening us to make a major alteration to the balcony structure during the construction phase. We needed a project manager with a strong technical orientation as well as a designer, and Martin Back and Rob Grieve provided authority and communicated well with us throughout the process. As a greenfield construction, we agreed that the property needed to sit well in its coastal surroundings and their vision was vital in achieving that goal. We would recommend them without hesitation.
Mike Dummer, Director of Grenadier Estates: “Atlantic View will transform the existing Atlantic View Bungalows site which has been a blight on this wonderful landscape. We’re replacing poorly insulated, tired bungalows with six contemporary three-bedroomed beach cottages that benefit from a number of sustainable technologies. “We are confident the site will enhance the area and attract tourists who want to enjoy some of the best views in north Cornwall, all year round.”
