New Year, New Projects!

News and updates on architecture in Cornwall and Devon from The Bazeley Partnership

It’s been a busy start to the New Year in The Bazeley Partnership offices with several new architectural commissions, planning permissions granted and new projects starting construction. We’re currently working a broad portfolio of activities, from community regeneration and Church conservation, to new homes, extensions and small housing developments in Devon and Cornwall.

We have also added two new members to our Design team in recent months and are delighted to welcome back Tim Simmons, who was previously a Student Technician with the Practice and now joins us as an Architectural Technologist, and Ed Greaves, who has recently completed his degree in Architectural Technology.

Atlantic View Beach Cottages

In Widemouth, the Atlantic View Beach Cottages are nearly ready for the green roof planting to commence.  The cottages replace some outdated, dilapidated bungalows that once stood derelict on the site and this development will much improve the street scene, as well as having sustainable design at the centre of the programme. This is a substantial economic investment in the Widemouth area, with a project value of circa £3 million.

The project team includes:

Clients: Grenadier Estates

Architects: The Bazeley Partnership

Main Contractor: JE Stacey & Co Ltd.

Otterham and St. Juliot Village Hall

The parishes of Otterham and St. Juliot are celebrating as their new Village Hall nears completion.  Years of fundraising and a substantial grant from The Big Lottery of £418,379 towards the provision of the new building, enabled the communities to commission our services to design and manage the construction of the new hall.

Planning Updates

We’ve recently received Planning Permission for several projects in North Cornwall and are delighted that some will soon be starting on site.  Our services can include taking projects from concept through planning and building regulations and then onto full contract administration.  We are also very experienced in Feasibility Studies for potential projects, including Pre Applications for Planning and Outline Planning Applications in Cornwall and Devon.

In recent months, we have secured full planning permission for a new home on the site of an existing, unsatisfactory house; full planning permission for the  design and build of a new 2 storey house in place on a single storey bungalow, increasing both the height of the building and the footprint; and we have also secured outline planning permission for a small housing development on semi-urban site infilling an unused area of land.
